A drainage shovel is used for digging long, narrow channels for drainages and trench digging.
The long blade tapers towards the end and easily gets through hard, heavy earth.
Its slim shape means that less soil will be taken out, giving a neat finish to your trench. However, it is not ideal for prolonged shovelling, for which a round-point shovel would be better.
